latest work:

may 08 - pinocchio is done. it was performed live at the sackville music hall earlier in the month. word on the street is that it will be touring with the motion ensemble later in the year. i have posted the sackville performance on youtube in four parts, and an abbreviated version with the full frame animation and selected audio portions. and i just completed a bunch of new flowers.

april 08 - still working away on the pinocchio project. it's pretty much all i've been doing for the last three months. very intensive.. otherwise, some trinkets from the rendering times and whatnots can be found here. i also took a workshop with struts gallery's artist in residence, alex mackenzie. i got to hand process some vintage film which i couldn't afford to develop otherwise. surprisingly, the film, which had expired in 1981 developed just fine. sweeet. oh yeah, and alex also did a guest gig on drawing on air, with leah and lianne. here's what i made while listening.

march 08 - working on a new animation... it's a fun project, about the relationship between pinocchio and the cricket.. four versions of how one might interpret said relationship. it's a project started by dr ian crutchley, a music prof at mta, who is composing a four part operetta, while i build the visuals. this ain't no disney.

february 08 - i just made this little fellah, hopefully i can sneak it into the sweetest little thing auction.

january 08 - happy new year. with evry january comes the wonder that is stereophonic. here's my poster for this year. january also means valentines day is just around the corner and with that comes the sweetest little thing. here's my submission for the fundraising auction. and finally, a wee little dude unlike the othern and some flowers in progress... just 'cause they're pretty.

december - again, so early in the month, but i made this sweet collection of springy fleurs that i had to share with my peeps. i also made a short rough video montage of their wiggly selves. and i just finished - on the penultimate day of this fine year - the stereophonic 5 logo... website to follow. happy new year one and all... here's the last flower of 2007.

november - i just took an awesome workshop on rotoscoping with the amazing paula cowan. here's my super simple loop. and i just finished a wee follow-up project, making this rotoscoped animated gif for your loopy pleasure.

october - i made this little robot monkey. and these flowers for my ma. and this flower for kip's charitable auction. i've been taking long exposure night shots from the deck too. and continuing with my documentation.. no new edits yet. and i did some work for the owens, which was lovely work to have.

september - well, i got a sweet extention on my show... an extra month. it made me super happy that four more weeks worth of folks got to see and enjoy my work... hopefully many more smiles were had. i'll be taking it down this weekend (sept 29th/30th) so if you've yet to see it, get 'er done. otherwise, there's my documentation and this collage i made of the show.. oh and this little gif of the special diorama in action. i've also begun to document myself at work. here's the first edit, where i make a set of wiggly teeth. and finally, my pal leah g had a birthday, so i gave her this little dude i made.

august - i just installed my living is easy show at struts, entitled springs, strings and a mechanical thing. it's a bunch of seperate pieces united to make one big work. here's how it goes. i made some art on springs, and i wanted them to move in the gallery setting, without having to invite everyone to poke them (you know one man's poke is another man's shove) so i gutted yet another broken typewriter, but this time i left some of it intact. just enough so that when the keys are pressed, a gentle tug travels along a string to the corresponding sculpture... of course, if that doesn't make any sense at all, see for yourself. and if you didn't already know - the bulk of this stuff is made from garbage and cast-offs. the only new materials in my work is generally the adhesives and paint. the thing that really made this show come together was some old matress springs i dug out of a firepit. they are awesome. weehaw.

may june july - works in progress for my upcoming living is easy show at struts at the end of august. it's gonna be called springs, strings and some mechanical things. it's an ambitious project, a wee bit daunting for me at times. but i think something nice will happen in the end...

april - my super eight didn't work out again. oh well. when will i give up?

april - struts' 10th annual mail art show. if it gets delivered, it'll get exhibited. here's my submissions.

march - julie animation is done!

february - the sweetest little thing, my favorite time of year. so nice. i made two, yessirree two thingys for this years auction. wanna see em? it inspired me to make a bunch of wee little littles... here's a smattering of what i'm working on.

a little postcard collage i made one night.

january 07- stereophonic four is nearly upon us. here's some posters i made for the festival.

wahoo. i built a miniature rickenbacker for an upcoming animation.

here's a quickie poster i made for the band, you know.. to be helpful. paul made one with pretty colours too.

happy thanksgiving! here's my impromptu drawing project. just for fun. nothing fancy. blind drawings of parts of my day.

a lighting and motion test for the aforementioned animation project. so exciting. so much work ahead!

the julie doll, as seen in sappy records music festival art show at struts gallery. i plan to animate a song for her upcoming album.

some oddball stuff i've made in the past several months or so.

i volunteered to make the sappy records music festival program. jon didn't want it to look computery. i think i got it right. my copy got somewhat slightly used. hopefully so did all the others.

just completed a short digital collage animation entitled the stick man for the faucet media thumbwars - part of the okay qoui media arts festival.... this and the the quazi super-8 screened on monday july 31st at the really nifty and only slighlty smelly old imperial theatre. it's a very old venue. unused for years.

well, the super-8 did not turn out as planned, i totally over-exposed the film. and now, many months later i have finally gotten around to building a somewhat passable piece using the digital back-up and some of the bad super-8...although my brother had to watch it twice to understand it, so clearly a weak moment in animation history... sorry to disappoint.

march - i just completed shooting another very short super8 animation. it will be premiering in sackville at struts gallery on april 8th at 8 pm, if you're in the area. admission is free. everyone is welcome. i shot it simultaneously on my little digital, so here's a still from the opening sequence to tempt you.

february in sackville means the sweetest little thing - the annual fundraising even for our local galleries. small boxes and or boards are provided for inspiration. here is what i was inspired to make with a box. the event took place on valentines day.

january in sackville means stereophonic, chma's annual fundraising music fest. other than the web work, i made some posters for the various shows.

helen pridmore, a local musician, asked me to build her a promotional package.

in december i made this wee little little automobile. it's all of one and a one half inches long. made from watch parts mostly, but there are some tuner bits, beads, and some cardboard involved.

oct 17th, mailed off a batch of trading cards bound for newfoundland.

september 1st - this website is new... again... hope you like it.

struts show - august 22 - september 3, 2005
